Respected data centre industry executive, Megan James has become Australia’s first female Chief Executive Officer in the dynamic and fiercely competitive data centre market.
Formerly, General Manager at Canberra-based Australian Data Centres (ADC), leading ADC crowns Ms James 20 year career in Information, Communications and Technology.
The appointment comes three years after Ms James relocated to Canberra to take on the General Manager’s role at ADC and signifies the operation’s ongoing success under her management. She has been instrumental in establishing the Canberra operation and qualifying it for appropriate panels for Government Business.
The appointment acknowledges her expertise and experience in Australia’s burgeoning Data Centre Industry.
“ADC is at a very exciting junction. I have seen the market evolve from virtually unknown back in 2001, to the dynamic environment that it is today. ADC is the only Australian, privately owned Data Centre in Canberra and one of only 2 in the country and I am very proud to be leading the business,” Ms James said.
ADC Chairman Mr John Gasson said while it was great to see another female joining the ranks of Australian CEOs, the appointment was more about Ms James capabilities.
“Megan is a very capable and knowledgeable Data Centre professional. Her integrity and commitment to building enduring partnerships and driving business success has been demonstrated frequently over the past three years,” he said. “I look forward to working with her and seeing her leadership reap even greater rewards. “
The former CEO Mr Rob Kelly remains a key shareholder in the business and a key Board Member.
“ADC is a great success story. We have been successful in securing excellent tenants and are well positioned for expansion with proven technology and Megan has been integral to that success. I’m sure with her now leading the business, it will go from strength to strength,” Mr Kelly said.
Ms James is also on the board of the Breast Cancer Network Australia and Women in Communications (WIC)
